Amsterdamse Branie: the cheekiest sweet in the Netherlands

Dreamt up in 2019 in a café by the canal: Amsterdam deserved its own treat, and it became a toffee with attitude.
Other Dutch cities have had their own local treat for years. Amsterdam had nothing - which bothered two born-and-bred Amsterdammers, who decided to do something about it in a café by the canal in 2019.
No fancy bonbon, no trendy cracker, but an honest, unapologetic toffee: buttery-soft, with a bold sweet caramel flavour. They called it Amsterdamse Branie, at least as cheeky as the average Amsterdammer.
The range has since grown to include Amsterdam liquorice sticks and other local treats, all with the same wink in the packaging.
It's the kind of product that lightens up a package: small, recognisable and good for an instant joke by the coffee machine.
